Identity Theft

I remember those awkward years in Junior High. Not having a clue who I was or the way I was supposed to act. My hair wasn’t pretty or long enough, my clothes weren’t name brand and my nose was too big. I would never make a difference in the world. As you can probably tell my junior high years were the most grueling years of my life. Well my hair is still not long, my nose is still the same, but at least I do have some name brand clothes. Lol

The identity crisis continued through my early adult years. Even as an adult I still found myself searching. I would love to tell you that once I came to know Jesus as my Savior the mystery was solved. But that wouldn’t be the truth. It actually became more difficult. Why? Well because now I was a threat to the kingdom of darkness.

You see, satan’s job is to keep us blinded to who we are in Christ. He tested Jesus in Matthew 4 with phrases like “If you are the son of God”. What he was really saying was “If you’re really who God says you are do this or that”. He was trying to make Jesus question His identity. Jesus so calmly responded with the truth of God’s word.

The enemy doesn’t want you to know who you are. He has come to steal, kill and destroy your identity in Christ. He wants you to believe the lie that you’re not worthy of God’s Love and Grace. Maybe you were told that you wouldn’t amount to much, or your dreams will never come true.

It’s a LIE.

In Jesus you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus even with your past sins and mistakes. You are who God says you are. The apple of His eye, adopted into the family of God and a part of a Royal Priesthood and a Holy Nation. We are God’s most prized possession.

Yes, the enemy may have stolen our identity, but through the blood that Jesus shed for us on the cross, we have been given authority to take it back. And with that Identity comes an Inheritance (Romans 8:17) and with that Inheritance comes Blessing (Proverbs 10:22).

We also must be careful not to allow people to take our identity and place upon us who they want or need us to be. You have been set apart for God, He has already made you who He wants you to be.

I am happy to tell you that I KNOW WHO I AM IN CHRIST. I no longer believe the lies of the enemy, instead I stand on the Truth of God’s Word.
